I am excited to share this newly designed living room space from the Richardson home. If you didn’t get a chance to view my last post that previewed this project, take a look at the official before photos and the fabrics that inspired the design of this space (http://www.atldesignworks.com/2011/07/20/the-richardson-living-room-preview/).
The beginning of this photo reel shows the space after all painting had been completed, but here is a little background information on the living room. We began with a dark and cramped feeling space which was largely due to the dark stained wood that dominated the space. From the tongue and groove wood paneling covering the walls, to the large built in shelving system on the walls, to the dark stained wood floors. It was just too much dark wood for one space. With the addition of some much needed paint and textiles, we are making great headway in transforming this area into a fresh and airy living room. I chose Sag Harbor Gray HC-95 from Benjamin Moore for the wall color to compliment the various textiles going into the space. Then out went the old and outdated sofa and in came a new solid color sofa with clean lines. A perfect addition to the existing club chairs. We also repositioned the furniture to create a more conducive environment for TV viewing and entertaining. With the addition of a few more accessories this room will soon be complete. I hope you will enjoy perusing through the following photos to see the great progress we’re making in this space.
Also, Kudos to the Richardson’s for an excellent paint job! It really looks fantastic and I know it was a time investment painting all that wood paneling. The effort definitely paid off big time!
I am in the process of redoing my kitchen fabrics ie. window treatment, pillow, cushions etc. and I came across your website and was admiring the Richardson Kitchen and living room. My dilemma Is the fabrics in my adjacent family room and their impact on my selections for the kitchen. I noticed that you used blue and yellow in the kitchen and green and yellow in the living room and different florals essential in the one large space. My question is do the rooms need to “marry ” so to speak or is it ok to use different florals and colors? I appreciate your opinion. Thank you! Gerry
