A Little About Me…

My name is Melissa Cannon and I am the founder of Atlanta Design Works. My passion for design was stimulated at an early age and has grown tremendously over the years. I have always loved drawing and creating things, and I knew early in my teenage years that I wanted to pursue interior design as my career. I attribute my design skills partly to my father’s creative career field as an architect and partly to my mother’s love for home decorating, gardening and entertaining. In an attempt to follow my career goals, I began my college years majoring in interior design at Samford University and then completed my education at The University of Georgia where I graduated with honors in Furnishings and Interiors.

Throughout my time in college I fell in love with my husband, Charlie. We met towards the end of my Freshman year when I was attending Samford University. After six weeks of dating and not enjoying our long distance relationship, I applied to UGA and was quickly accepted. I transferred there for the second semester of my Sophomore year and never looked back. Charlie proposed to me in March of 2006 and we were married in June of 2007. We have just celebrated four years of marriage and our first child,  Bennett, was born in September of 2010. He is our greatest treasure. I am so blessed to be able to work out of our home and to be able to spend precious time with our son. Every day I get to spend time doing all the things I love most, being a wife and mother, and helping my clients create environments where they can enjoy doing all the things they love most.
